Challenge
Back in 2017, RBS identified an opportunity to create an innovative new ‘co-working’ space for its employees.
Working with RBS and LOM Architects, we created a visual identity which transformed Level 3 of NatWest’s Bishopsgate office into a space that redefined the relationship between work and play and captured the spirit of a dynamic co-working community.
Brand Expression
Inspired by the way natural light moved around the building and the architect’s biophilic design principles, we defined the visual identity concept, ‘Habitats’. The definition of ‘habitats’ as the natural home or environment of an animal, plant, or other organism was easy to understand and broad enough as a concept to define Level 3 as a destination like no other.
The sun’s position throughout the day defines the three work zones – dawn, day and dusk – and influences people’s working patterns as well as the extensive colour palette.
Five core shapes taken from the NatWest logo create a range of patterns for wallpaper and glass manifestations.
The RBS house font evolves into an outline font for emotive messages, reflecting the openness of the space.
Bespoke icons and a stencil font adapted from the RBS typeface apply to surfaces using a range of techniques.
