Creating an engaging
employee experience
Challenge
Back in 2017, Photobox Group had outgrown their space in London Bridge and were about to embark on their biggest office move yet. They wanted to build an engaging employee experience to set the right tone for their move to a new London HQ, the historic Herbal House in Clerkenwell.
Process
To define what a great office move experience should be, we ran a fully immersive three-day workshop to explore what we wanted colleagues to feel, know, and do before, during and after the office move.
While the history of the Group was important, we wanted every employee to feel part of something bigger and more inspiring than their brand alone. This was also about the future ambition, vision, values and collective purpose.
Solution
Our theme for the experience – ‘Moving Moments’ – inspired a communications plan that centred around the typical steps people take when moving home. Across all of these stages we considered what the employees would need to think, feel and do and how we could inspire the right results.
As well as creating a fresh look and feel that complemented each of the Group’s various brands, a variety of deliverables were identified to engage both existing colleagues and future new recruits.
We created a unique ‘Herbal House newspaper’ to echo the building’s industrial past. It shared interesting facts about the new building and local area and included a bespoke quiz to encourage interaction and connection with their new HQ.

We led with a short film that would serve as an inspirational introduction to the Group. The film celebrated the Group’s collective brands, what they stood for, where they were headed and how they were going to get there. It inspired pride and unity in the collective offer.
To support the transition into Herbal House, we created an animated series of quirky characters that helped set new ‘ways of working’ standards.

80% employees experienced the Herbal House introduction

The experience has been incorporated into the onboarding programme with over 80% satisfaction rating in the new-joiner survey
